Year 2 have had great first week back. They all seem to have grown up so much over the holidays. They've been working hard and co-operating better than ever!
This week year 2 had their first golden time - this is a special time when the children can choose to do fun learning activities.
This Friday we decided to decorate the playground with chalk and paint! Did you see our drawings? There was a penguin family, a roaring dragon and even a St.George's flag!

Samba and birds of prey

On Tuesday year 2 had their Brazil topic 'wow'. This was a Samba drumming and dancing session. We enjoyed making ALOT of noise with the drums and all learned a special carnival dance.

On Thursday morning we saw the welsh birds of prey. They were magnificent! Jaie and Anya held the Eurasian Owl.

Well done to the children for working so hard this term. Thank you to all of the parents and carers for your support. Have a lovely Easter everyone!

Arts and crafts!

This week year 2 have been getting very creative! In maths we have been learning about fractions. The children had to design a poster showing a whole, half, 1 quarter and 3 quarters of a shape.

On Friday it was the Easter Craft day run by the PTFA. Year 2 made an easter basket and a picture frame.

We also began to prepare our 'lifecycle' boards for when we will be adding the 3D features next week.

Last week we began our topic 'journey of a frog' which involves learning about living things and life processes. We watched some videos about lifecycles and then went on a minibeast safari in the school grounds. We found loads of living things! Woodlice, a centipede, worms, worms, a slug and some eggs on the underside of a leaf.

On Wednesday year 2 had their 'pyjama party' for getting all of their marbles. Well done Year 2!

In Re this week we have been learning about 'special clothes'. We learnt about the special shawl and hat that jewish men wear when they pray.

On Thursday it was 'World Book Day'. We all dressed up as a book character and did some fun activities from the website.

Football crazy!

Welcome back!
Our first week back has been as busy as ever!
On Wednesday we were lucky to have a Bristol Rovers football coach in to teach us some football skills. It was great fun! Well done to Evie for having a fantastic attitude and winning a prize- two tickets to see Rovers play!

We also performed our 'family assembly'. This was an opportunity for year 2 to show their families everything they have learnt during the topic 'Me and my shadow'. We also performed our 'Ugly Bug Ball' dance brilliantly and Miss Morgan was really, really proud of us. Well done year 2!

Here are some pictures of the judo demo we had last week. It was very exciting, they could do some very clever stuff!
This week, on Monday, Debbie Scroggs from Ashton Park came in to show us how to use the equipment safely and sensibly. We were taught the 3 S's and one big rule. Can you remember them?
We had so much fun using the equipment and were very, very sensible.
We also had our (slightly overdue) disco for getting all of our marbles. Here we all are in our party clothes having a good, old boogie!

Happy Holidays!
