Here are some pictures of the judo demo we had last week. It was very exciting, they could do some very clever stuff!
This week, on Monday, Debbie Scroggs from Ashton Park came in to show us how to use the equipment safely and sensibly. We were taught the 3 S's and one big rule. Can you remember them?
We had so much fun using the equipment and were very, very sensible.
We also had our (slightly overdue) disco for getting all of our marbles. Here we all are in our party clothes having a good, old boogie!

Happy Holidays!

The Ugly Bug Ball!

This week lucky year 2 were invited to a dance festival at Ashton Park Secondary School!
The theme was 'Animals' so we did 'The ugly bug ball' and we were all different kinds of bugs - dragonflies, crickets, worms and spiders!
The festival was great, there was a range of different styles of dance and children of different ages.
When it came to year 2's turn, all of the practice had paid off and they performed brilliantly. Well done Year 2!

Last week in Science we were thinking about sound and hearing. We looked at Caitlin's model ear and thought about how the ear works. We the wrote an explanation of how we hear with Mrs Shore on Friday. We did really well and remembered a lot of information.

We got out the equipment in gymnastics this week and had a really good session. We were focussing on using the equipment safely and we all made sure we were very sensible.

More shadows!

In science this week we had an exploration session with shadows. We all made a shape and then investigated if we could make a shadow on the board when the light was off. Nobody's shape made a shadow! Then we turned the light on and experimented with moving our shapes closer to and further away from the light.

In literacy we have been continuing to follow and give instructions verbally.
Our numeracy unit is data handling and measures. On Wednesday we made a pictogram of our favourite colours so that Heather would know what colour to paint some of the doors around the school!

Snow and shadows!

As you all know year 2 had their 'shadow puppet'workshop on Tuesday. Lots of photos were taken but unfortunately the year 2 camera has gone missing. As soon as it turns up there will be photos of the day on the blog.
All of us made a moveable shadow puppet, as well as having a go with our 'experts' puppets. It was a very fun, busy day! Thank you to all of the parents who helped us have a fantastic day!

Just a quick note about weather and suitable clothing. Please make sure that the children have a pair of wellies in school as well as a warm coat, hat and gloves.

Thank you!

Last week was very busy as we had 3 performances of the Nutcracker to do! We all worked really hard though and did really well.
This week has been about all things christmassy!
We made christmas decorations out of salt dough. We all enjoyed getting very messy!
We also had our christmas party and had a very special visitor from somebody. Can you guess who?!

Thank you for all of your support and help so far this year.
Have a wonderful christmas and see you all in the new year!

Fun with puppets!

On Tuesday Year 2 were lucky enough to watch a puppet show - peformed by the group ACTA. It was really good and made us all laugh alot! The puppets were really life like and we had lots of questions about how they were made. At the end of the show one of the puppetiers kindly donated her puppet to our class!

We have been working on measures in numeracy focussing on weight. Here we are making balls of plasticine weigh accurate weights. We learnt about the units used in weight.
